The Minnesota Golden Gopher men’s basketball team received a double dose of bad news on Wednesday, losing guard Gabe Kalscheur to a broken hand and their eighth road game of the season 82-72 to Indiana.
Kalescheur’s injury was announced prior to tip-off as the junior broke his hand during practice earlier this week. With Kalescheur out, it gave Tre Williams the chance to step up and the sophomore took advantage.
With 11 points on the night, the Gophers took a 37-35 lead into the locker room at halftime.

While Minnesota also got a big night from freshman Jamal Mashburn Jr. and Marcus Carr, who scored a team-high 19 points each, Indiana took over in the second half. The Hoosiers shot 5-for-7 from 3-point range in the second half and got 20 points and 10 rebounds from Trayce Jackson-Davis.
With a 16-2 run late in the second, the Hoosiers were able to leave the Gophers in the dust and hand them their eighth straight road loss to begin the season.
Minnesota is now 13-9 on the season and will host Illinois on Saturday.
