Former Gophers defensive tackle Ra’Shede Hageman was drafted 37th overall in the NFL Draft, by the Atlanta Falcons.
Hageman was thought to be a borderline first-round draft pick. He wasn’t selected Thursday night, but was one of 30 prospects who were invited to New York City for the draft.

Hageman, a 6-foot-6, 310-pound defensive tackle, was recruited to Minnesota as a tight end. He switched to the defensive side of the ball and became one of the top defensive tackles in the NFL Draft, this year.
Hageman is one of the highest draft picks in recent Gophers history.

According to the Pioneer Press, many expected Hageman to go in the first round. But New England didn’t select Hageman at 29 and the other team thought to have interest in Hageman was Seattle, who traded their first-round pick 32nd overall to the Minnesota Vikings, which turned out to be Teddy Bridgewater.
Hageman played in 46 games during his Gophers’ career. He recorded 91 tackles, 24 tackles-for-loss and also recorded 10 sacks. He was All-Big Ten first-team and was third-team Associated Press All-American.
As a senior for the Gophers, Hageman made 13-tackles-for-loss.
