The Minnesota Gophers scored another win on the recruiting trail as they received a commitment from Texas wide receiver Brady Boyd. The news was first reported by Ryan Burns of Gopher Illustrated.
Boyd chose the Gophers over Utah, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech and is one of the fastest recruits in the state of Texas with a 4.44-second, 40-yard dash. As a three-star recruit, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound receiver can still add strength and technique to become a complete receiver.
“[Boyd] plays fast but 40 time may not consistently be reflected in on-field play speed,” Gabe Brooks of 247 sports said. “Long speed is strong, but can improve initial burst off the line and in route suddenness. Power Five-caliber receiver with promising tool set to become potential multi-year starter in college.”
With Tyler Johnson heading to the NFL Draft and Rashod Bateman entering 2020 as one of the best wide receivers in the nation, the position has become a strength under head coach P.J. Fleck. If Boyd can develop in the same fashion, the Gophers could have another strong prospect on the way.
