Opening night in college football is just two days away and the Gophers are set to host UNLV at TCF Bank Stadium.
The Star Tribune has tabbed this year’s Gopher team as a “compelling” bunch. Read about some of the obstacles players and coaches have had to overcome.
- Jerry Kill beat cancer and is now fighting epilepsy.
- Offensive coordinator Matt Limegrover has lost about 170 pounds.
- Defensive end Ra’Shede Hageman went through 12 foster homes growing up.
- Safety Brock Vereen’s older brother players for the New England Patriots.
As for the game, UNLV has lost 22 straight road games, and Patrick Reusse says the Rebels’ only tradition in football is losing.
“Run it down their throats” — That’s what U of M running back Donnell Kirkwood wants to do to UNLV, according to FOX Sports North.
