March Madness is rapidly approaching and just as the popcorn is starting to pop, eyes all over the country are on basketball’s hottest player. Minnesota’s Rachel Banham.
The Gophers star did it again with a buzzer-beating 3-pointer that gave Minnesota a 78-76 win over Iowa. Just like her idol, former Gopher Lindsay Whalen, Banham is rewriting the Minnesota record book as she continues to be a scoring machine with 127 points over her past three games. Banham’s recent tear, including her 60-point performance against Northwestern, has made her a fixture on national sportscasts and she’s now being watched closely by NBA All Star Kobe Bryant. The Lakers superstar tweeted Banham after her Iowa game winner.

With Banham scoring 35 points, she moves into second place with 2,840 points past Ohio State’s Jantel Lavender on the Big Ten’s all-time career scoring list.
