In a hugely entertaining game, the Vikings took over 73 minutes, but got the job done against Chicago with a 23-20 overtime win.
Head coach Leslie Frazier has actually guided his team to a winning record over the last month, posting a 2-1-1 record in their last four games.
He was excited, relieved, and enthused postgame to get the W, here’s what he had to say to the media in the bowels of the Metrodome.
“So glad we came out on top, terrific job by our football players, very proud of the way they played. We knew going in it may come down to a final play, and we found a way to make some clutch plays.”
“We’ll be able to enjoy our Christmas party tomorrow night, it will feel a lot better coming off a win.”
On Adrian Peterson: “He’s amazing in so many ways, even last year playing with a sports hernia at the end of the year, it’s amazing. I don’t know medically if you could say a guy could carry the ball 35 times for 211 yards dealing with what he’s dealing with whether it be the hamstring early in the season or the groin now.”
On AP getting to 10,000: “He’s one of the youngest to ever achieve it, he’s rare, he’s the best in pro football.”
On the facemask penalty that took away the win in overtime: “It was hard to believe that it wasn’t game over, but for our players to bounce back and be so resilient, so proud of those guys.”
On Matt Cassel: “He did a good job with all the eight-man fronts we got today. You got to be able to hit out-routes and slants when you have a safety in the box, otherwise it’s like running up against a brick wall.”
On the quarterback situation: “It’s unfortunate Christian got injured, we’ll sit down on Monday and figure out where we are.”
On Chris Cook’s ejection: “You got to keep your composure, you can’t let that stuff (getting beat) get to you.”
On kicking to Devin Hester at the end of the fourth quarter: “Probably wasn’t the wisest thing.”
On Erin Henderson’s lack of playing time: “It was about Audie, from what it looked like he did everything you could ask from the position, so a good job by Audie.”
INJURIES:
“Christian Ponder left the game with a concussion, we’ll have to see what happens with him during the course of the week.”
“Greg Jennings we weren’t sure if he was going to play last night, he was really sick with a stomach virus, but he said I’m going to try to go.”
“Chad Greenway got banged up in this ballgame, he’s actually battled through broken bones in his wrists the entire second half of this season, when you have guys like Chad battling it helps with the young guys.”
