EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — The Vikings beat Detroit Sunday without Percy Harvin on the field, but it sounds like Harvin will be back for the Chicago game a week from Sunday. In a news conference today, Coach Leslie Frazier says after the bye week everyone should be able to play Nov. 25 against the Bears at Soldier Field.
Frazier was asked if at 6-4, he thought the Vikings were a playoff team. While he didn’t answer that question directly, he did say his team needs to use this next week to figure out how “to get better.” The Vikings finish up with four games against the Bears and Packers out of their final six. Frazier said “we have to go ahead and finish the deal.”
Frazier on other topics:
On Christian Ponder being forced to spread the ball around to other receivers without Harvin on the field: “Even if Percy had been there, we were preaching the importance of moving the ball around. We are going to continue to emphasize it the rest of the season.”
On rookie Matt Kalil emerging as a quality run blocker: “He’s grown leaps and bounds. He has improved every week in that area. You expect him to get better and better as he gains more confidence.”
On beating the Bears, and improving to 7-4: “We’ll have to play great football against them to win in Chicago.”
