Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mike McFadden raised $700,000 in the last three months and has $1.2 million in the bank, his campaign announced Thursday. The Pioneer Press reports McFadden has raised nearly $1.5 million since he entered the race in May.
The political newcomer recently visited Washington D.C. to meet with Karl Rove, co-founder of the super PAC American Crossroads — a sign that McFadden has made fundraising a top priority, according to Politics in Minnesota.
McFadden, an executive on leave from a Minneapolis financial management firm, is one of six Republicans running against incumbent Democratic Sen. Al Franken in 2014.
The other candidates include: State Rep. Jim Abeler, St. Louis County Board Chairman Chris Dahlberg, bison farmer Monti Moreno, state Sen. Julianne Ortman and activist Philip Parrish.
Roll Call, a Capitol Hill newspaper, says McFadden’s fundraising numbers likely put him ahead of the GOP pack, but still behind Franken.
The senator’s campaign has not yet released his latest tally, but at the end of last quarter, Franken had about $3 million in the bank.
Fundraising reports aren’t due until next week.
