Twins spring training is happening in full force and before you know it baseball will be back on your TV screens for what is expected to be a very good season for the Minnesota Twins.
For a 38th consecutive year the lead television play-by-play announcer will be Dick Bremer. Who joins him in the Fox Sports North (FSN) broadcast booth in 2020 remains to be confirmed, although Sid Hartman of the Star Tribune has reported that former MVP Justin Morneau is slated to provide color commentary for 80 games.
The report also said longtime color commentator Bert Blyleven will only be involved in 30 broadcasts, further reducing his quota after it had already been cut prior to the 2019 season.
But FSN has said that reports of how many games each color commentator will handle are premature for now, as it has not yet been confirmed.
“Our regular season broadcast schedule and talent announcement has not been finalized yet, so the information reported was premature. We plan to release in the next few weeks and will keep you posted on plans,” a spokesperson for FSN said.
Jack Morris, Roy Smalley, LaTroy Hawkins and Torii Hunter joined Morneau and Blyleven as analysts last season.
Blyleven has been Bremer’s right-hand man as the primary color commentator since 1996, although the number of games he’s done in recent years has declined. He did 80 games in 2018 and just 50 last season, and he’s publicly acknowledged that he agreed to do fewer games this season.

Twins spring training games begin Saturday, Feb. 22 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The regular-season opener is set for Thursday, Mar. 26 as the Twins take on the Athletics in Oakland.
