A.J. Jefferson was released by the Vikings Monday morning after an arrest on suspicion of domestic assault.
Today, Jefferson was officially charged with that count at the felony level, and his bail has been set at $40,000, according to the Hennepin County Sheriff roster’s webpage.
According to WCCO’s reporting of the criminal complaint, Jefferson returned home after a night out with a young lady who claims the two got into an altercation.
Jefferson left the home, but came back upset with the accuser for not returning his text messages, according to WCCO.
An alleged physical confrontation ensued in which Jefferson repeatedly choked the woman.

The official charge is felony domestic assault by strangulation, according to Hennepin County and WCCO. Jefferson is scheduled to appear in court on December 2nd.
