One year ago today Flip Saunders represented the Timberwolves at the NBA Draft Lottery and he won the No. 1 pick in the draft for the first time in franchise history.
The result was 2015-16 Rookie of the Year Karl-Anthony Towns, who will now honor his late coach by wearing one of Saunders’ wedding rings while representing the Wolves at the Draft Lottery tonight in New York.
According to USA Today, Saunders’ son, Wolves assistant coach Ryan Saunders, wears the ring around his neck and he urged Towns to do the same for a bit of lottery luck.
