Larry Fitzgerald spent some of his youth growing up in the Twin Cities as a ball boy for the Minnesota Vikings, and he’s still a fan of the purple.
“I grew up a Vikings fan and I would be lying to you if I didn’t say I was still a Vikings fan,” Fitzgerald told the Arizona Cardinals official website. “Growing up in Minnesota it’s second nature. I still pull for them when I’m not playing them. A lot of my closest friends in the NFL are Vikings. I’m close with [Everson] Griffen, Jared Allen, Phil [Loadholt], Adrian Peterson, Kyle Rudolph. You pull for your friends.”
The blog post was inspired by recent backlash 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick received after posing for a picture wearing a Dolphins hat.
A couple of years ago, Larry Fitzgerald Sr. told Pro Football Talk that his son always wanted to be a Viking.
