The family of a father fired over his defense of offensive messages sent by his children to an African American girl has said there’s “no excuse” for how he acted.
WCCO reports a statement has been issued by the Puro family that says father Devon Puro has gone back into rehab, and his twin children have been moved out of Minnesota following the backlash to a YouTube video that went viral Tuesday.
Puro was featured in a video uploaded by Prior Lake father Bradley Knudson, who described Snapchat messages his adopted daughter had allegedly received from Puro’s twin children, which contained racial slurs.
Knudson named Puro on the video, and played an audio recording of voicemails he had received from him which included use of the “n” word, which led to him losing his job as a contractor at Roy E. Abbott Futures, Inc.
In a statement to WCCO, the Puro family said an apology has been made to the Knudsons and accepted, and that Deron Puro will be heading back to rehab to deal with an addition to “alcohol and prescription pills,” saying he was under the influence when he left the voicemails.
The children meanwhile have been moved out of state, due to “terroristic threats” they had received since the story went viral.

Deron has recently become aware of his actions and is sincerely sorry for how he acted. He understands that what he did was uncalled for and is unforgivable. He just hopes that the Knudson family can heal and be able to move on from the hurtful things he said and the pain he has caused.
