After losing 103 games in 2016, Paul Molitor this year guided the Twins to the Wild Card playoff game.
He’s now reportedly on the verge of being rewarded for his performance with a new contract extension.
MLB.com says Molitor met with Derek Falvey and Thad Levine Wednesday and Thursday to discuss a deal to remain Twins manager.
2017 was the final season on a three-year contract Molitor signed before 2015.
During the abysmal 2016 season the Twins fired former GM Terry Ryan, brought in Levine and Falvey, and ownership promised Molitor would return for at least one more year.
The 2017 turnaround by Minnesota has put Molitor among the top candidates to be named AL manager of the year.

Molitor was doused in champagne by his gleeful players in the minutes after clinching their Wild Card berth in the Cleveland clubhouse.
“I, 100 percent – and I speak for everyone in here – I want him back,” 2nd baseman Brian Dozier told MLB.com.
