The Oakland Raiders need a new home and former Vikings owner Red McCombs is inviting them into his.
In an interview with ESPN Radio, McCombs said he has 12 major corporate entities ready to commit to help lure the Raiders to San Antonio, Texas.
“We proved it with the Spurs. They said it wouldn’t work at all, and it just happens to be the best franchise now in all of sports,” McCombs said. “We know how to do things here. We weren’t born yesterday.”

McCombs, 88, bought the Vikings for $250 million in 1998 and sold them to the Wilfs in 2005.
The Raiders, quite literally, need a new home. Their lease at their stadium in Oakland has expired and the team has received very little support from California to build a new stadium in Oakland, the Washington Post reports.
The team’s options seem to be:
- Relocate
- Build a stadium elsewhere in northern California
- Wait until 2017 and move to Los Angeles if the Chargers don’t
According to Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole, Raiders owner Mark Davis has purchased land near San Antonio.

McCombs has said that he believes San Antonio will get an NFL franchise in his lifetime, but he joked that he just had his 88th birthday “so we got to hurry.”
