Fenway Park and Wrigley Field are two of the most iconic sporting venues on the planet, but that doesn’t mean everyone has to like them.
Former Twins pitcher Phil Hughes is among those who prefer a sparkly new modern stadium over ballparks dripping with nostalgia. Or to be blunt, he thinks Fenway Park and Wrigley Field suck.
“Beyond the history, Fenway and Wrigley suck,” Hughes said in a tweet Wednesday night.

His opinion was in response to an earlier tweet he posted, asking his followers to tell him their most unpopular opinions.
Hughes also compared the clubhouse at Fenway Park to a dumpster.

ESPN’s John Buccigross responded to the tweet and it turned into a fun back-and-forth between him and Hughes about why the parks are, in Buccigross’s opinion, or are not, in Hughes’ opinion, awesome beyond their history.
Braves pitcher Brandon McCarthy also weighed in, noting that major upgrades taking place at Wrigley will help make road trips to play the Cubs “not a pain anymore.”
