The Associated Press reports that former Twins outfielder Jason Kubel was designated for assignment by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
Kubel was hitting .220 with five home runs and 32 RBI this season. His numbers have dropped off considerably after his 2012 campaign, in which he hit .253 with a career-high 30 home runs and 90 RBI.
This seems like the first story in a long time about an ex-Twin that isn’t in the mix for a batting title (Michael Cuddyer) or a possible MVP award (Carlos Gomez).
