David Cobb broke records for the Gophers and now already breaking out as the possible starting running back for the Tennessee Titans.
Cobb is getting rave reviews after rushing 11 times for 53 yards in his first preseason game. It was impressive enough to earn him some first-team reps in practice this week.
Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt plans to work Cobb into the first-team rotation, The Tennessean reports.
Fire up the David Cobb bandwagon. Whisenhunt said today he's earned some first-team reps.

“He’s got a good feel, good vision, good feet and a good feel for making the cuts and getting through the line,” Whisenhunt said. “That’s what we liked about him at the Senior Bowl. Obviously he was very productive his senior year at Minnesota. We were really excited to get him.
“We were just disappointed that we didn’t get a chance to see much of him in the spring. But he’s worked to get back, and he’ll continue to get more as we progress.”
Cobb set a Gophers’ single-season record with 1,626 rushing yards last season. But his draft stock took a bit of a hit when he suffered a quad injury during Minnesota’s pro day.
I was hoping to see David Cobb look a step faster in the pros than he did last year as a Gopher. We can check that box. Legit sleeper.

Cobb’s chances of winning the starting job in Tennessee are probably higher than they would be almost any other place. Tennessee’s top returning rusher is Bishop Sankey, who finished his 2014 rookie season with 539 yards.
“I’m a big fan of David Cobb. He’s a really good player, just a hard runner and I think his game translates very well to the next level,” NFL Media’s Daniel Jeremiah says. “I know that Sankey’s been a big disappointment early on and I think Cobb could wrangle away that job and he’d be one to watch.”
Jeremiah called Cobb a “sneaky Rookie of the Year candidate.”
