The reigning NFC Defensive Player of the Month wants Adrian Peterson back in the locker room.
That’s what Vikings defensive end Everson Griffin on Friday told Mike Florio on “Pro Football Talk Live“
“If he comes back we going to welcome him with open arms,” Griffin said. “It’s hard when you lose your No. 1 running back – the offense gotta create a whole new identity. When Adrian is done with his case we’ll welcome him back with open arms, but it’s not up to us to make that decision.”
“If he doesn’t we just gotta go out there and do our job. We’re hoping we get him back, but it’s not up to us. We just gotta go out there and do our job against Chicago.”
Griffin added:
“Who wouldn’t want the best running back in the NFL back to help us go on this winning streak?”
Griffen’s comments are similar to comments made by many of his teammates earlier this week, including tight end Kyle Rudolph and fullback Jerome Felton.
“He’s one of our leaders,” Fulton said. “He was up here in the offseason. People follow his lead because of how hard he works. So it’d be pretty nice to add that back into the team.”
