Starting pitcher Ervin Santana is on a roll through his first three starts this season. The right-hander threw a complete-game shutout on Saturday as the Twins beat the White Sox 6-0.
Santana allowed just 1 hit and struck out 8 in the win. Through three starts, Santana is 3-0 with a 0.41 ERA. He’s also only allowed five hits all year long.
The two-time Opening Day starter was also solid last season, dangling a 3.38 ERA in 30 starts. His name was mentioned around the trade deadline last year but the Twins held onto him.
With the team off to a much better start in 2017, Santana is clearly a part of the solution this season for Minnesota.
The Twins got off to a hot start on Saturday with 5 runs in the first inning and never looked back. With the win the Twins are 7-4 on the season. Last year Minnesota won just seven games in the entire month of April.
