Eduardo Escobar has been rewarded with the American League Player of the Week award after hitting .462 with two homers, six doubles, one triple and eight RBI last week.
It’s another scorching hot stretch for the Twins’ starting shortstop and another reason to suspect that he could be among those in consideration for the reserve spot on the AL All-Star roster.
Eddie Rosario, who leads the Twins in pretty much every offensive category, looks like a sure thing to represent the Twins in the All-Star Game, but both making it would be deserving.

Escobar is on pace for 31 homers, 102 RBI and an astounding 68 doubles, which would break the all-time MLB record of 67 set by Earl Webb in 1931.
Already with 26 doubles, Escobar leads the majors entering play Monday and if he keeps on rolling he could become the first player since 1936 to reach 60.
Todd Helton of the Rockies came close with 59 doubles in 2000, and a number of players have finished with 55-57 in recent seasons, including 56 by Cleveland’s Jose Ramirez last season.

Rosario is on pace for 37 homers, 112 RBI and 42 doubles.
No teammates in the AL finished with 30+ homers and 100+ RBI last season, although Baltimore’s Jonathan Schoop and Manny Machado, and New York’s Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez, came close.
