Baseball’s latest cheating scandal was fueled by Twins third baseman Josh Donaldson earlier this month when he accused pitchers of gaining a competitive advantage with sticky substances, and on Tuesday night in Chicago he kept his foot on the pedal.
As Donaldson crossed home plate after smacking a two-run homer off White Sox starter Lucas Giolito, he rubbed his hands together and said, “Hand’s not sticky anymore!” His words were picked up by the Bally Sports North broadcast.

After the game, Giolito ripped into Donaldson with an expletive-laced response.
“He’s a f—— pest. That’s kind of a classless move. If you’re going to talk s—, talk s— to my face,” said Giolito. “It’s just annoying. We won. The W is next to my name. They’re in last place.”

Giolito allowed three runs on five hits and struck out one in six innings. He’s now 2-0 against Minnesota this season, having struck out 11 in an eight-inning gem at Target Field in May.
Donaldson, who went 1-4 in the 7-6 loss, was not made available to the media after the game, but is expected to speak before Wednesday’s game.
