The Minnesota Twins made their quick stop in Detroit a successful one as they defeated the Detroit Tigers 3-2 on Monday afternoon.
Monday’s game was a makeup of a July 16 contest that was washed out but Josh Donaldson made sure there was still rain in the forecast during a three-run fourth inning.
After Jorge Polanco put the Twins on the board with an RBI single, Donaldson smashed his 21st home run of the season with a man aboard to give the Twins a 3-1 lead.

The Twins offense was enough to support Bailey Ober, who allowed two runs on five hits with five strikeouts over six innings. After the Tigers cut into the lead on a Zack Short single in the fifth, the Twins bullpen came on to preserve the victory.
With Jorge Alcalá and Alex Colomé throwing a combined three shutout innings, the Twins were on their way back to Minneapolis with a win. The Twins (58-73) will open a three-game series with the Chicago Cubs at Target Field on Tuesday night.
