Scott Diamond was just what the doctor ordered Tuesday night. The left-hander made his season debut and led the Twins past the Angels, 5-0 at Target Field. He allowed just four hits and struck out six in seven shutout innings.
Josh Willingham gave the Twins a 1-0 lead with an RBI double in the first inning. Brian Dozier, making his second career Big League start scored on the play. He would later drive in his first career run.
Ryan Doumit followed Willingham with a 2-run homer to right-center field. It was his third home run in the last week, giving him four for the year.
Joe Mauer also drove in a run, his 14th RBI of the season. Mauer, who started at first base, went 2-4 with single and a double.
