Mid-March snowstorms are cruel, but there is a silver lining. In two short weeks — Monday, April 1 — the Minnesota Twins open the 2013 season at Target Field.
It’s the earliest the Twins have opened the season at home — indoors or outdoors.
If there’s still snow in the forecast for that afternoon, then Tuesday, April 2, is an open date in case of inclement weather.
The Detroit Tigers are in town for the opening homestand.
Twins president Dave St. Peter tells Fox Sports North that even if it’s chilly outside — say in the 40-50 degree range — there are no plans to cancel or move the game.
As he puts it: “Highs in the 40s are a lot better than single digits and snow and rain.”
