Some key players for the Vikings are starting to show some wear and tear after a week of training camp in Mankato.
On Thursday, starting middle linebacker Erin Henderson left practice with an apparent groin injury. Henderson told KFAN-FM 100.3 on Friday that it was just a “scare” and he’ll be fine.
Fellow linebacker, Desmond Bishop, left Friday’s practice with an undisclosed injury. Afterward, Bishop told the Pioneer Press that he’ll be fine.
The concern is a little greater for rookie cornerback Xavier Rhodes, who missed practice with a hamstring injury. The Star Tribune reports he is day-to-day.
Head coach Leslie Frazier thinks his team is up to speed and ready for the 7:00 p.m. scrimmage on Saturday. During his Friday press conference, Frazier said, “being under the lights, the fans in the stands, packed audience with the cheering and some of the things that happen kind of get you in the mode of getting close to game time.”
The starters won’t play a lot during the scrimmage, according to the Pioneer Press.
“We’ll play our ‘ones’ maybe a couple series,” Frazier said. “I don’t know how we’ll use Adrian, but we’d like to line up Christian (Ponder) for a couple of series when we go one versus ones and ones versus twos. We’ll probably limit Adrian’s involvement.”
