The Vikings allowed tackling in short-yardage and goal line situations during Tuesday’s training camp practice in Mankato. The pace was fast and furious, and it favored the defense, which dominated the offense all day long.
“The defense kind of handed it to us today,” Adrian Peterson admitted to the Pioneer Press.

Just like every other time he does an interview, Peterson was asked about his goals for the season. The Star Tribune documented his answer.
“I’ve said 2,500 [yards]. I’m not trying to make a big deal about it because I’m being asked about it all the time. But I’m always finding ways to challenge myself. People are trying to shoot me down because they don’t want to challenge themselves in any way. This is the way I’ve been successful, challenging myself and setting goals and high expectations. So win a Super Bowl first and foremost, obviously. But 2,500 would be nice.”
Peterson also commented on the new NFL rule that penalizes players for leading with the crown of their helmet three yards beyond the line of scrimmage or outside the tackle box. He said he was initially angry with the rule until he learned that it can be imposed on both offensive and defense players — not just running backs.
Quarterback Christian Ponder continues to have an up and down camp, according to ESPN’s Kevin Seifert.
Center John Sullivan spent some time with KFAN-FM 100.3 and the HGH conversation came up. Sullivan says HGH use isn’t as common in the NFL as most people think.
