Darwin Quintero will not be back with the Minnesota United next season, as the Columbian attacker announced on social media that the Loons have decided against renewing his contract.

The United have yet to address the situation publicly, but the Pioneer Press is reporting that Quintero’s contract hasn’t been decided on.
According to Major League Soccer, Quintero, 32, made $3.4 million annually the last two seasons in Minnesota, totaling 21 goals and 20 assists. According to the Star Tribune, the contract option Minnesota declined would’ve paid Quintero $2 million in 2020.
The Loons were able to reach their first MLB Cup Playoffs in 2019, but Quintero didn’t start in the 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Galaxy, instead subbing for 30 minutes and assisting on Minnesota’s lone goal.
