Dalvin Cook did not practice on Wednesday and his status for Sunday’s Vikings home game against the Buffalo Bills is in question.
Cooke left Sunday’s tie with the Packers with a hamstring injury, but told reporters after the game that it was nothing more than cramps. It’s now obvious that it was more than a cramp as he has yet to practice this week.
“Just taking it day-by-day, we’ll see how I feel at the end of the week but it’s going to be day-by-day,” Cook said Wednesday.
If Cook is simply able to practice in limited fashion on Thursday it would be a step in the right direction. Then again, the Vikings have a stable of running backs behind him, including Latavius Murray, who could easily handle the load against the lowly Bills on Sunday.
Giving Cook the week off might not be a bad long-term plan for the Vikings, especially since they get just three days off before traveling to Los Angeles for Thursday Night Football against the Rams next week.
Meanwhile, defensive end Everson Griffen, cornerback Marcus Sherels, right tackle Rashod Hill and tight end David Morgan didn’t practice Wednesday, but center Pat Elflein was a full participant.
Even though Elflein was back in full, Brett Jones was taking first-team snaps at center with quarterback Kirk Cousins.
