Jhoan Duran’s final strikeout was met with a wall of noise at Target Field as the Minnesota Twins completed their first playoff series win since 2002, but god forbid you tell a Philadelphia Phillies fan it was “loud.”
USA Today baseball reporter Bob Nightengale captured the moment the Twins secured the victory over the Toronto Blue Jays and shared it to Twitter, posting: “Bedlam at Target Field,” a likely hark back to the “Bedlam at the Bank” call when the Phillies won Game 5 of the NLCS in 2022.
Take a look at the responses to the below tweet and it’s filled with Phillies fans who apparently have the monopoly on the term “Bedlam” (a word that dates back to the 1660s) and just have to let you know that Citizens Bank Park is noisier.

“This is what CBP sounds like when the ball boy gets a foul ball,” @PhillyThe13th commented.
“This is a normal crowd reaction when someone grounds out for the first out of the inning at CBP,” said Eagles and Red October SZN.
Even a Minnesota-based Phillies fan had to get in on the act: “I hear you and I love you (I live in Saint Paul) but CBP owns bedlam. Maybe it’s — Minnesota Mayhem or Correa Commotion or Upper Midwest Uproar? Bedlam is at the Bank. Period,” Marsha Trainer wrote.

But hey, here’s an idea … maybe don’t make it about you?
Since the last time the Twins won a playoff game, the Philadelphia Eagles have been to three Super Bowls – winning one of them (in Minnesota, obvs); the World Series three times – also winning once; and the Stanley Cup finals once.
The Twins hadn’t had a win in the playoffs since 2004 and a series win since 2002. They are the only men’s Minnesota major league team to win a championship and that hasn’t happened since 1991 – since when Minnesota fans have been dealt myriad failures and near-misses from the Vikings, Twins, Wild and Timberwolves.
So Target Field wasn’t “the loudest,” but it was loud enough.
It was loud enough Carlos Correa figured out that Blue Jays players at second base weren’t able to hear their third base coach, and used it to get Vladimir Guerrero Jr. picked off in a crucial moment of the game.

It was loud enough over the two nights that Twins players and management credited it with giving the team the edge they needed to end an 18-game playoff losing streak and a 21-year wait for a playoff victory.
Phillies fans are loud, it’s awesome. Much like the Twins, the current Phillies team is really easy to root for this year, filled with likable, talented players.
