One person was killed early Tuesday morning when a car going the wrong way on a Florida interstate hit a bus carrying Minnesota Twins minor league players, the Florida Times-Union reports.
The bus was carrying a Twins affiliate team based in Elizabethton, Tenn., back from training camp in Fort Meyers, Fla., the Pioneer Press reports. (A previous report by the Times-Union that the bus was carrying the Twins-affiliated Fort Myers Miracle was incorrect.)
The driver hit a black Honda driving the wrong way on Interstate 295 at about 4:25 a.m., the Jacksonville newspaper reports. The car’s driver, believed to be a man in his 20s, was declared dead at the scene, the newspaper reports.
No one on the team bus was injured, the Times-Union reports. Another bus picked up the players a short time after the collision and they continued on their way to Tennessee.
