The Minnesota Twins’ offensive slump continued Tuesday afternoon, falling to the St. Louis Cardinals 3-2 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
It was a strange game, thanks to a pair of rain delays, which interrupted proceedings in the first and seventh innings.
Michael Wacha (9-2) held the Twins to two runs in 6 1/3 innings as he struck out five to pick up the victory.
Amazingly the Cardinals now improve to 22-games over .500 and are an impressive 26-7 at home this year, while the Twins continue slumping in June.

For the second straight day it was St. Louis’ Mark Reynolds striking the big blow. After a home run on Monday, Reynolds hit a two-run single in the third giving the Cardinals a lead they wouldn’t let go.
Matt Carpenter led the Cardinals at the plate on Tuesday. He finished 2-for-3 with a run scored.
The Twins on the other hand continued to sputter. After Brian Dozier came around to score in the top of the first after leading the game off with a base hit, Minnesota couldn’t do anything until the top of the seventh.
Minnesota’s only other run came after a seventh inning rain delay when Kurt Suzuki singled home Eduardo Nunez to cut the Cardinals lead to one.
Kyle Gibson (4-5) wasn’t bad, he held the Cardinals to three runs on six hits in six innings of work. He was tagged with the loss.
The series shifts to Target Field on Wednesday night. Tommy Milone starts on the mound for the Twins.
