The three hottest sports commodities in Minnesota right now are all juniors in high school.
Tyus Jones of Apple Valley, Rashad Vaughn of Robbinsdale Cooper and Reid Travis of DeLeSalle. The trio forms the best group of high-end high school talent since the Class of 2009 produced Royce White, Nate Wolters, Rodney Williams and quite a few other terrific players.
The task of luring them to play basketball at the University of Minnesota now belongs to new Gophers head coach, Richard Pitino.
As Marcus Fuller of the Pioneer Press points out, Pitino’s job of closing the borders will be very difficult to do in a short period of time.
Per Darren Wolfson, Pitino has already started recruiting the ‘Big Three.’
Not only did Richard Pitino talk to Rashad Vaughn, but told he had a chat w/ Tyus Jones. He wasn't able to connect last night w/ R. Travis.

Pitino is said to be a “tireless recruiter,” but fans really won’t know a lot of Pitino until he addresses the local media for the first time at 9:00 a.m. Friday.
