Byron Buxton’s impressive spring continued Wednesday as he launched a home run against the Red Sox, his fourth of the exhibition season.
The most impressive thing about Buxton’s latest homer is that he hit it off of Red Sox right-hander Nathan Eovaldi, who if you’ll recall, was one of the stars in the World Series last October – and right-handed batters hit just .239 with seven homers against him all season.

Buxton is tied with the second-most homers in the majors this spring, and he’s tied second with 12 RBI, not to mention a .400 batting average, .444 on-base percentage and a ridiculous 1.444 OPS (on-base plus slugging percentages).
No player this spring with at least 25 at-bats has a higher OPS than Buxton.
Buxton’s 25 at-bats are a small sample size, but based on compliments from ESPN’s Tim Kurkjian and a beefed up body that appears to be producing more power, Buxton could be primed for a bounce-back season.
At the very least, his spring results are extremely encouraging with the regular season opener against Cleveland just two weeks away (March 28).
Note: Twins prospect Adam Rosales also has four homers this spring.
