Is 2019 the year Byron Buxton finally puts it all together and blossoms into a star for the Minnesota Twins?
If his spring debut is any indication, maybe it is. Buxton went 2-for-2 with a homer and five RBI to lead the Twins to a 10-5 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. He got things started with a based-loaded single that scored two in the first inning, and then unloaded with 3-run homer in his second at-bat.

“Tonight was a really nice night. He put some great swings on the ball,” said manager Rocco Baldelli. “In addition to that, he also showed us all some of the other things he can do as well. … It was great to see it all tonight right off the bat.”
Buxton struggled with injuries and finding his swing and wound up playing just 28 games with the Twins in 2018. He spent the offseason adding muscle mass, and the early results, albeit just two at-bats, are definitely encouraging.
Eddie Rosario on Byron Buxton: “Beautiful. His swing looks beautiful. Looked good.
"I’ve seen it in the cage & the last couple days here. He’s doing the same thing in the game today, trying to stay inside the ball & hit it into right field. That’s very good for him.” #MNTwins— DanHayesMLB (@DanHayesMLB) February 24, 2019
