Saturday the Gopher hockey team completed its weekend sweep of the Ohio State Buckeye’s. Minnesota beat Ohio State 4-2 on Saturday night at Mariucci Arena.
After falling behind 2-0 in the first period to open the game, the Gophers rattled off four unanswered goals.
The Gopher’s Sam Warning led Minnesota back, he finished with a hat trick in the game. Warning scored the first three goals of the game for Minnesota.
His first goal came just 24-seconds after the Gophers fell behind 2-0. In the second, Warning netted his second goal. Then in the third period, Warning scored off a rebound during a power play to complete the hat trick.
Seth Ambroz added the insurance goal for Minnesota to put the game away.
A night after stealing the show at TCF Bank Stadium, Adam Wilcox made 25 saves in net once again for the Gophers.
The Pioneer Press reports the victory extends the Gophers’ winning streak to 8-0-2 since losing on Nov. 24 to the University of Minnesota Duluth. It also improves the Gophers to 14-1 against Ohio State since 1999.
Minnesota plays St. Cloud State on Friday night at Xcel Energy Center.
