It what would surely be an intoxicating performance, Britney Spears and her associates have reportedly said the pop star wants to perform the halftime show in Minneapolis next year, according to the New York Daily News.
“Britney has made it clear to her team that it is a dream to perform at a Super Bowl,” said an insider to the newspaper. “She has the hits package and appeal to be a headliner.”
This would of course be for Super Bowl LII, which will be held at U.S. Bank Stadium.
It would be Spears’ second performance at the NFL’s biggest event. She did the Super Bowl in 2001 with Aerosmith and ’N Sync. The 35-year-old has been performing Las Vegas residency shows since 2016, but her contract is set to expire at the end of this year, according to the Las Vegas Review. She also went on a world tour in March.
She’s released nine studio albums over the past 19 years.
Artists have performed multiple times at the Super Bowl before – Bruno Mars, Beyonce and Justin Timberlake have all done it more than once.
This year’s Super Bowl will take place on Feb. 4, 2018. It will be the second time Minneapolis has hosted the big game.
