Minnesota Twins second baseman Brian Dozier was named an American League finalist for a Rawlings Gold Glove on Thursday.
Dozier was one of three finalists for the Gold Glove along with Houston’s Jose Altuve and Detroit’s Ian Kinsler. The award will be announced on Nov. 10.

During the first half of the season, Dozier made most of his noise with a big bat, but while his offensive numbers slumped during the second half of the year, his defense never wavered.
He made just eight errors in 767 chances while playing in a career-high 157 games. He was also near the top of the American League in several key defensive statistics.
Dozier’s Gold Glove Resume
- Led the AL by helping turn 111 double plays
- Led the AL in Games played at second base
- Led the AL for a third consecutive year with 456 assists
- 3rd in AL with 303 putouts at second base
- 4th among AL second basemen with a .990 fielding percentage
Whether he wins the award or not, the good news for the Twins is that they have a pillar at second base for the foreseeable future. He signed a four-year, $20 million contract extension last winter keeping him in a Twins uniform through 2018.
