Brandon Roy underwent his seventh knee surgery Monday and is expected to be sidelined least a month, but the wear and tear on Roy’s knees may cost him much more playing time down the road, if not his NBA career.
In an interview with the Oregonian, Roy says multiple doctors have advised the 28-year-old to stop playing basketball. His knees have reached Level III arthritis, one step away from a knee replacement.
Roy went into medical retirement after five seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers. Roy made a comeback this summer, signing a two-year deal with the Timberwolves worth $10.4 million.
