Joe Mauer is under contract with the Twins through the 2018 season, but that doesn’t mean he’ll remain in Minnesota forever. One man that wants Mauer out of the Twin Cities is ESPN Boston’s Gordon Edes, who wants to see the Red Sox trade for Mauer during this weekend’s winter meetings in Nashville.
Edes writes that the Twins aren’t close to contending, so “having nearly a quarter of the payroll tied up by one player doesn’t make the most business sense.”
