If you were to guess where last night’s Gophers-Boston College game was played you’d think it was in Brick City based on the box score.
The two teams combined to make just 10-of-52 3-pointers in an ugly offensive struggle that went the way of Boston College by a score of 68-56 – the first loss of the season for the Gophers (5-1).
Minnesota connected on 5-of-30 from deep while the Eagles made 5-of-22.
For the game, the Gophers shot 29.2 percent (19-of-65) while Boston College was much better inside the arc (25-of-53) for an overall 47.2 shooting percentage.
Jordan Murphy led the Gophers with 16 points and 11 rebounds but he fouled out with 5:33 left in the game.
“I could make every excuse until I’m blue in the face, but none of it really matters,” Minnesota coach Richard Pitino said, via ESPN.
The Gophers have a chance to pick up another win over a respected team when they take on Oklahoma State Friday night in the U.S. Bank Stadium Classic.
