The Wolves win 124-95 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers was a blowout by anyone’s measure, but some NBA observers are tallying up the tally.
As Yahoo! Sports notes, even without the high-scoring Kevin Martin, the Wolves put up monster numbers. They led by 15 after the first quarter. They led by 26 at the half, and totaled 70 points by the break.
The Star Tribune’s Jerry Zgoda goes even deeper, saying that’s just the eighth time in franchise history that the team has scored that many in a half.
The newspaper also says the 108 points through three quarters is a franchise record. The 34 team assists is a season high and the most since 2008. They could have notched not one basket in the last 15 minutes and still won.
Ricky Rubio’s 16 assists were a career high and one off the team record. And this shocker: Kevin Love is the first player in NBA history to tally 240-plus points, 125-plus rebounds and 45-plus assists in the first nine games of a season.
