The Wild took penalties early and often and San Jose capitalized Thursday, scoring three times on the man advantage to down Minnesota 3-1.
Joe Pavelski scored the Sharks first and last goals of the night and Tomas Hertl got his 15th of the year, the Sharks outshooting Minnesota 39-30 on the evening.
Niklas Backstrom started in net for the Wild, giving up all three goals, but the team in front of him did the goalie no favors, taking five penalties in the first period and seven on the night.
Jonas Brodin was the only Wild skater to score, his sixth of the season, but it was not enough as Minnesota goes 0-for-2 on the west coast after losing to Anaheim Wednesday.
The Wild return to action at the Pepsi Center in Denver Saturday, an 8 p.m. puck drop against the Colorado Avalanche.
