The New York Yankees completed a three-game sweep of the Twins with a 4-3 victory Wednesday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.
Nathan Eovaldi (13-2) tossed seven innings and held the Twins to three runs on four hits, while striking out eight.

Greg Bird provided the offensive punch for the Yankees. He homered twice to lead the Yankees at the plate – once in the fourth, the other in the sixth. Both were two-run shots off Twins starter Ervin Santana.
Bird finished 2-for-4 with all four RBIs to lead the Yankees.
Despite taking the loss, Santana was able to give the bullpen a much needed break. He pitched 7 2/3 innings and held the Yankees to four runs on seven hits, while striking out six.
Joe Mauer drove in a pair of runs for the Twins. He was 2-for-4 to lead the way and was the only Twins player with more than one hit. Trevor Plouffe drove in the other Twins run.
Aaron Hicks left the game with what looked like a strained hamstring.

The loss drops the Twins to 59-61, two games below .500 on the season. Tyler Duffey starts for the Twins on Thursday night as they open a four-game weekend series in Baltimore.
