We feel your pain, Ben Roethlisberger. We feel your pain.
Well, maybe not your pain, exactly, because we haven’t been shaken around like a sack of laundry by Jared Allen, but we understand your feeling about your team. Just a week ago, the Vikings and their fans could have said the same thing you said after Sunday’s loss in London:
“Right now, you could say we’re the worst team in the league,” Roethlisberger said Sunday to the Associated Press. “That’s hurts.”
Boy, doesn’t it? You wanna know real pain, Ben? Think about losing to the Cleveland Browns. Then think about losing to the team that lost to the Cleveland Browns. Yeah. That hurts.
Even though Pittsburgh is bad, the New York Giants, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are also in contention for the “worst team” distinction, according to Yahoo! Sports.
NBC’s Pro Football Talk also keeps the Steelers from the bottom of the slag heap, but warns that in coming weeks, we all might feel the same way Roethlisberger does about his team.
Finally, the Washington Post notes, with Roethlisberger sacked five times and harassed all day by Jared Allen and the Vikings, the Steelers dropped to 0-4 — their worst start since 1968 when they lost their first six games en route to a 2-11-1 record.
