Jose Berrios wasn’t perfect, but he was pretty dang close.
The 22-year-old pitcher made his 2017 debut on the road in Cleveland Saturday afternoon, and Twins fans got what they were hoping for.
The only shaky moment of his seven innings was a third inning wild pitch that allowed Carlos Santana to score, giving the Indians a brief 1-0 lead.
After the wild pitch, Berrios was in cruise control. He struck out the first batter he faced, retired 13 straight at one point, and earned a win on the road against a good Cleveland team.
His line was fantastic: 104 pitches, 7.2 innings, 1 earned run, 1 walk, 2 hits, 4 strikeouts.
13 straight for Berrios. He's thrown 93 pitches. player hop off the bench to congratulate him as he comes off the field.
