Jose Berrios is on a flight back to Rochester, New York, where he’ll rejoin the Twins’ Triple-A affiliate after a horrendous start against the Tigers on Monday night.
The young right-hander gave up 7 runs and was pulled after getting just two outs in the first inning. Minnesota stormed back from an 8-0 deficit to tie the game before eventually losing to Detroit, 10-8.

Berrios made four starts at the big-league level and racked up an ERA of 10.20.
- Cleveland: 4 innings, 5 ER
- Houston: 5.1 innings, 2 ER
- Baltimore: 5 innings, 4 ER
- Detroit: 2/3 inning, 7 ER
Berrios is still one of the highest-rated pitching prospects in baseball, and definitely the No. 1 pitcher in the Twins’ organization.
Without Berrios, the Twins need a fifth starter in the rotation. The Star Tribune says Pat Dean, the left-hander who pitched well in long relief last night, is in the mix for the job.
Left-handed pitcher Taylor Rogers got the call up from Rochester to replace Berrios.
