Minnesota Gophers 85
Kent State 73
The Gopher women’s basketball team put together a big fourth quarter to pick up an 85-73 road victory at Kent State Tuesday night.
1. Banham’s big fourth quarter
After what had been mostly a quiet night, Gophers senior guard Rachel Banham made some noise in the fourth quarter to finish with 24 points. Banham scored 18 of those 24 in the final five minutes.
2. Wagner locked on from deep
Carlie Wagner also was shooting the ball well. Wagner finished with 18 points and was 3-of-4 from behind the three-point line.
Her three long-range hoops were among seven Minnesota knocked down in the game.
3. Offensive balance a big key
The Gophers finished with five players in double-figures. Joanna Hedstrom chipped in 11 points, while Shayne Mullaney had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Jessie Edwards added 10 points, six rebounds and four blocks.
