Another wrinkle in the always developing Adrian Peterson saga.
According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports, Peterson’s agent, Ben Dogra, declined a dinner meeting request from Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman, who wanted the meeting to happen in Arizona this weekend at the league’s annual meetings.

While Robinson says the denial is “not good,” Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio isn’t sure what party Robinson is referring to.
“It’s unclear who it isn’t good for. Peterson and Dogra are trying to persuade the Vikings to part with Peterson, whom they have under contract for three years. At some point, the Vikings may say to Peterson and/or to Dogra, ‘Adrian can play for us or he can play for no one.'”
Robinson attempted to explain what Dogra might be doing:
- Notifying the Vikings that he’s taking a “hard-line” approach to dialogue moving forward.
- Attempting to convince Vikings owners Zygi and Mark Wilf that Peterson will only be happy if he receives guaranteed money or is traded to a new team.
Peterson has $45 million and three years remaining on his contract, although none of the money is guaranteed.
Dogra issued a statement to Fox Sports earlier this week saying the Vikings have made it clear that Peterson will not be released. The former NFL MVP can still be traded by the Vikings, although Monday Morning Quarterback author Peter King was told by a source within the Arizona Cardinals organization – a team closely tied to Peterson trade rumors – there’s “no way” a trade will happen at Peterson’s current salary ($12.75 million in 2015).
