Make it nine consecutive losses for the Timberwolves as they fell at home to the Thunder 113-104 Saturday night in Minneapolis.
Karl-Anthony Towns finished with 37 points, eight rebounds and six assists and Shabazz Napier had a triple- double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists, but it still wasn’t enough to overcome an ugly third quarter in which Oklahoma City ballooned a lead to as many as 20 points.
“The league is what it is,” Towns said, via ESPN. “They’re going to kick when you’re down, and they’re going to keep kicking you until you get it. We’ve got to get up.”
The Wolves are 5-23 since Thanksgiving and now 15-31 overall, tied with the Hornets for the fifth-worst record in the NBA. At home, Minnesota is an NBA-worst 6-17. The only way to avoid a second double-digit losing streak since Dec. 1 is to beat the Kings at home Monday night.
Note: Injury followed another insulting loss as Allen Crabbe, whom Minnesota acquired in a trade earlier this month, didn’t return to the game after limping to the locker room after an apparent knee injury in the first quarter.
